In 1983 the privatesector and the Municipal Administrative Office, having had relized the high potential for tourism of Changwat Krabi had co-operated to construct a small airporton public land which was completed in 1986 serving the air transport by 18-seated aircraft of Sahakol Air company( now Bangkok Airway Co., Ltd.)

Status

Krabi airport is a governmental body under the Development of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transport with an Airport Director as cheif executive Officer.

"The airport is situated at 133 Moo 5 thambon Nua klong, Amphoe Nauklong,Changwat Krabi, 13 kilometers to the east of downtown"

Its responsibility is to see Whether the air transportation within its jurisdiction is operated in compliance with laws rules and regulation as well as international agreements and conventions. The facilitation and safety aspects for airport users are also taken in to account.
